BC Hydro's Call for Renewable Energy Projects Selects Nine Wind Private Sector Winners
Last year BC Hydro put out a call for private sector investment in BC's energy future. “Clean and affordable electricity is key to powering economic growth and unlocking private-sector investment that creates thousands of good jobs here in British Columbia,” said Premier David Eby. The 30-year electricity purchase agreements for the nine wind projects are expected to provide nearly 5,000 gigawatt hours per year of electricity, enough to power 500,000 new homes, boosting BC Hydro’s current supply by 8%.

Environment Canada Warns - 2025 Could Be Another Hot One!

Environment and Climate Change Canada have published their first publicly available annual global mean temperature forecast, predicting that 2025 will be warmer than every year on record prior to 2023. The forecast anticipates a global mean temperature in the range of 1.35 °C to 1.55 °C above the pre-industrial value, meaning global temperatures in 2025 will remain at least 1.0 °C above pre-industrial levels for the 12th consecutive year. This reaffirms that the significant increase in global temperatures we have witnessed over the past two years is not a temporary fluctuation, but a clear signal of the long-term global warming that is driven by greenhouse gas emissions.
